Senior Backend Engineer
We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer who enjoys building scalable systems and solving complex engineering challenges. You’ll help build the core technology behind Offroad’s AI-native identity security team, including backend services, integrations, data pipelines, and the infrastructure that powers identity investigations and automated remediation. As an early team member, you’ll work closely with Product and Engineering, influence key architectural decisions, and help shape both the technology and the product from day one.
What You’ll Own
- Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations.
- Develop the systems powering AI-driven identity investigations and remediation workflows.
- Build reliable data pipelines across cloud, security, and identity systems.
- Design and operate cloud-native services on AWS.
- Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and observability.
- Contribute to architecture, technical design, and engineering best practices.
- Write clean, maintainable, production-quality code.
What Makes You Successful
- 4+ years of backend software engineering experience.
- Previous cybersecurity experience *required.
- Strong experience building distributed, cloud-based systems.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud architecture.
- Proficiency in a modern backend language such as Python, Go, Java, or a similar language.
- Experience designing APIs and working with databases and data-intensive systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to engineering quality.
- An ownership mindset and the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving startup environment.
